Ivan Aguiar

I translate indie games from English into Latin American Spanish.

These are fan translations of games I like, done on my own time, so people can play them in Spanish. Mostly RPG Maker and WOLF RPG horror games, where nearly everything you read is dialogue.

Fields of Mistria

Playing in Spanish, I ran into lines still in English and a dialogue box that cut off its last line. I wrote the issues up with repro steps and sent them to the developer.

Translation sample

The same line in English and in Spanish.

Misao HD Remaster · item description
Original · EN

A 100-yen coin fished out of a toilet. It stinks a little.

Translation · ES-LA

Una moneda de 100 yenes sacada del inodoro. Apesta un poco.

What I do

Game translation

Dialogue, choices, menus, items, skills and anything else a player reads, keeping each character sounding like themselves.

Localization

Spanish that reads like Latin America, not like a word-for-word version: names, jokes and tone that work here.

In-game testing

I play every change in the real build and look for text that doesn't fit, broken codes and lines still in English.

Get in touch.

I'm looking for work in Latin American Spanish localization and game LQA. Remote anywhere, or in Japan, remote or on site. Happy to hear about fan translation projects too.
